General comments/suggestions on lectures:
1. Very helpful and informative.
2. The lectures are very interesting. Most lectures, that is not the case
6. Truly, they were great. The professors were excellent: competent and in control, but still kind and understanding of their students and not making unnecessary or unreasonable demands. I learned so much, and the material is stuff that I will actually use. I love the way mathematics, which can seem so abstract, describes real, physical motions. I don't see how it is possible, or how people discovered it. It is amazing.
8. Always interesting.
9. Overall, very good!
10. I really appreciated the class and the professors. I really do think yall care whether about how much we learned. I just wished I could have asked for more help.
11. Should have more physical examples done during the lecture.
12. Dr. Bennett and Professor Schleter are the best professors I've had at the University of Tennessee this far! They are fantastic at conveying the almost-always confusing physics concepts to the class in a way that makes it easy to understand. They are always there to help and are extremely friendly. They make me want to come to lectures for all of those reasons and the fact they work so well together. I'm going to miss EF. Overall, they are AWESOME!!!
13. I like the already printed notes. It makes keeping up a lot easier. I still sometimes was writing so much that I did not get to pay full attention to try and grasp the information. The lecture videos helped a lot since what I did not get the first time around I could get from watching them on my own time.
14. na
15. Good class!
16. I think they could have done a little bit better of a job with presenting the material in a way that students new to physics would understand.
18. Some lectures were a bit rushed, but I understand time constraints.
19. There were a lot of times where there was a hard example but we didnt have time to go over it. Need to speed up the first part of the lecture.
20. none
22. I loved this class so much! This is by FAR the best class I've had at UT.
23. Maybe have a little bit longer lecture to cover all the materials.
24. I really enjoyed having Dr. Bennett and Dr. Schleter,i thought that they worked well together. They were fun, funny, and helpful. I feel like they prepared us well for the tests.
25. Very helpful in the course to go lectures.
26. Loved the way lecture was held. Great great teachers
27. very interesting
28. Let us out early maybe once?
29. The best college lectures I have ever had!
30. Honestly 2 of the best teachers I have ever had. Learned so much and the material was very clear. The class was also very entertaining.
31. Lecture stayed interesting and ensured that my current path of engineering is where I want to be.
34. Best teachers I have ever had. Great interactions
36. If possible, spending more time on a wider range of problems would help.
37. Excellent job explaining difficult concepts. Easily the best physics course I ever took.
38. Really helps when you have demonstrations!
40. N/A
41. Perfect
43. Good
44. very good class
45. Sometimes went a little fast but we had a lot to cover.
46. I was pretty much great teaching and great organization.
49. not boring
51. None.
52. I highly enjoyed lecture and it was a great time.
53. Keep doing what you're doing. It's very fun and interesting
54. fun
57. It is a lot of information, so I think that a summary of what will be taught at the beginning of lecture would be helpful.
58. Very effective
59. They worked very well together to teach the material. It was easy to understand and they made it fun.
61. The lectures were very informative.
62. i like the lecture style
63. I feel like i am missing steps when we do problems in lecture.
64. The lectures are good, but I feel they are rushed. Perhaps less problems could be presented and the ones presented could be gone over more thoroughly. I do like how spring semesters 151 class is a smaller group in lecture.
65. Very good lectures. Everything was fun and interesting, I wish my other professors made class enjoyable to go to like you guys did.
66. They were very engaging in teaching the lectures and explained and worked each problem very thuroughly and did a fantastic job teaching new topics and formulas. They also had a sense of humor and were fantastic in showing working examples to match the questions.
68. Conceptualization makes everything easier for me.
70. Great Lectures I look forward to going to class
71. Nothing at all. THe professors are awesome.
72. It would have nice to have seen a little more detail in working out the problems, but I do understand the rush for time.
73. They were good except the computer in the lecture hall caused a lot of delays in class.
75. rushed
76. I know there is a limited amount of time to do a lecture. Please try to spend more time working example problems and identifying the key concepts. There were many times in lecture where problems were hurried that would have been beneficial to be worked all the way through.
77. All of the notes should be given out at once instead of one at time. That way if a student misses a lecture there will not be a need to print off a copy.
78. Lectures were great. The examples in the lectures were helpful, but I would've found having more general "how to approach this kind of problem" knowledge beneficial.
79. its good
80. NC
81. The lectures had a very good ratio setup of new information to example problems/illustrations.
82. It would be helpful to see how the answers were arrived at more often
84. none.
85. Very fun actually enjoyed lecture when I wasn't going crazy about other classes
86. none
88. Thanks!
89. There was so much information that had to be covered in the 50 mins but good for introducing topics
91. None
92. Possibly work through problems slower and have different types of problems.
93. n/a
94. Did not attend many lectures, but last semester they were very good. Could include more information about how to solve more advanced homework solutions.
95. I really enjoyed the lectures. I have also come to the realization that engineering may not be the thing for me.
96. none
97. Tough topics taught well.
99. Definitely my best professors so far at UT!
100. None
101. Sometimes they go too fast because we run out of time.
102. I love the energy you guys so have so early in the morning.
103. Great combination of personalities.
104. Thanks helped a lot.
105. talk louder
109. They were very interesting and good at keeping your attention
110. Everything was pretty good, but sometimes went a little bit fast. I guess thats what the TA's and all the help sessions for is to make things even clearer
111. Maybe more time for questions.Even though most people are scared or too nervous to ask. More emphasis on the homework questions or concepts in the homework.
113. It's pretty clear you guys know what you're doing.
114. Spend a little more time on harder material and less on easy.

General comments/suggestions on recitations:
1. It was good to get more of a "hands on" approach to the concepts learned in class.
2. They were a lot of help
4. recitations really helped
6. Recitation was kind of miserable. It is not because of our TA: he was good. I felt like a lot of the exercises in the worksheets gave very detailed instructions which we were not expected to follow because time, knowledge, and skill were inadequate (on the part of us students). We were given a certain amount of time to work the problems on our own, and if we did not know how, there was nothing to do but wait around and be bored until the TA worked the problems on the board. At that time he wrote them out so fast that we had time only to copy his work in our notes and not to understand what he was doing. If, on the other hand, we tried to work the problems before he did, on our own, there was sometimes not enough time to finish before he started. I don't know, the time just felt unpleasant and poorly spent (unlike lecture).
8. Usually pretty boring.
9. Recitation was fun and informative!
10. I learned more in recitation than I thought I did. I never realize that until the end of each module, even though it always feels like I'm watching smart peope work.
11. I strongly believe that one problem of every homework should be done during recitation. That just make me feel like doing the rest of it too as I know I have homework problem down. There should be more time given after recitation if we have questions about homework problems. There should be more projects during recitation.
12. Recitations were very helpful. If I didn't have them, it would be difficult to get a FULL grasp on some of the concepts. Recitations have saved me more than a couple times.
13. The material was well presented and the practical applications were a lot more obvious during lab. I had a little trouble with the group projects due to the occasional person not pulling their part of the project but honestly this happens a lot in life outside the university as well so perhaps it is good training.
14. na
15. More practice problems and less activities.
16. None
17. spend more time walking us through the tasks
18. It just seems it takes so long to get so little done in recitation. I would rather go over homework problems or problems like homework problems, or have another overview of the lecture material.
19. Chris is awesome.
20. none
22. Chris was awesome! We could really joke around with him and be honest when we didn't understand a question. He was very helpful. Frances I barely saw until project time and I felt as if every time I went to ask for materials for my project she could be kind of rude.
23. Shorter recitation
24. The recitations taught us how to apply what we learned in the lecture, and also reviewed what we had done. I thought it was very helpful.
25. Fun and practical way of looking at topics learned in lectures
26. Always interesting and helpful.
27. Fun team projects
28. Maybe less working problems more hands on examples.
29. The recitations were awesome
31. Chris was an amazing TA. He was both helpful and friendly.
32. She was very nice and helpful!
34. Decent. I feel like a lot of people in my class just waited till the answers and didn't have the drive to really attempt them before she gave the answers/
36. Good help
37. Some seemed like a more productive use than others
38. Very very helpful!!!!!!!
40. N/A
41. Very Good class to confirm what we learned.
43. Good
44. everything was ok.
45. I wish they were a little more in depth. Sometimes they seem pointless.
51. None.
53. Recitation really helps strengthen the engineering concepts we learn. Chris is an excellent TA
54. nope
57. The recitations are informative and there a fun sometimes. I can't ask more...
58. Harder problems.
59. They were very helpful to reiterate what we had learned in lecture. The hands-on activities helped me see what I was calculating with an equation.
60. Tania seems slightly scatterbrained at times. She seems to either forget where she was going with a topic or not sure where to go next. This makes her explanations twice as long and less helpful than if she had only explained half the material.
61. Recitations really helped me further understand what was talked about in lecture.
62. none
64. Recetation is where I learned the material the best.
65. Recitations were really fun. Chris did a great job explaining course material and is a really cool guy.
66. Chris was awesome and really helped the material make sense by showing step-by-step how we were to reach the answer to a question we were having trouble with. He had many interactive examples coresponding to lecture and recitation was very helpful in giving us much needed practice on all the lecture topics.
70. Good but could include more time for homework.
71. Nothing. I found them very helpful.
72. Very thorough. They certainly helped me reach a greater understanding.
73. The lectures were helpful.
75. waste of time
76. Have the TA take a few minutes and go over concepts that we just learned before throwing a concepts question in our face's. There were many times I did not understand the topics/concepts until after recitation. How can you answer concept questions when you may not have fully absorbed what was taught.
77. I really like the way recitation is set up.
78. I enjoyed them and the concept questions really helped me understand the basic concepts of what was happening in lecture.
79. helpful
80. NC
82. N/A
84. none.
85. Explained well. Incorporated the students into the question being answered
86. There should be more hands-on projects. The practice exams were a big help in preparation for the actual test.
88. They really helped a lot...
89. It was good to get some additional practice with things right after lecture.
91. None
92. Towards the end of the semester during rotational motion, I felt like we did not have many recitations where we were to go over rotational motion problems. The recitations were geared more towards the Rube Goldberg project. It would have me if we would have had more rotational motion problems to go over in recitation.
93. n/a
94. Recitations should focus more on homework solutions rather than consistent projects.
95. I enjoyed recitations. Chris did a good job.
96. none
97. Recitation is great about clearing up any questions unable to ask in lecture.
98. More work relevant to the homework in difficulty.
100. None
101. I think they are incredibly helpful and go along with what we learn in lecture.
102. They were usually pretty fun.
103. Generally explained concepts well.
104. Went very well understood much more there
105. none
107. None
109. A little long at times, but they were very helpful and fun
110. The recitations were good, but the pace sometimes was a little fast. The TA was good she explained the material the best way she could.
111. No suggestions, recitation did just what it was supposed to. Recite what you have learned.
113. Less practical examples. Half of the team projects seem useless as well. I really don't believe we are that interested in them and it detracts from time we can spend going over recently learned material.
114. Helped understand material
Overall Class
Additional comments/suggestions for improving EF 151:
1. Overall, very well set up. Great way to learn.
2. None
4.  add more problems just for practice
6. I hate the co-requisite, EF 105!!! I like the programs and know that they will be extremely useful in the future. But that class!!! Not the teachers, the class!!!
8. N/A
9. Lecture problems and homework problems often were completely different. It would be nice if they were touched on more.
10. I wish the lectures would have been small classes instead. I just lean better that way. Do not make the texbooks a requirement, I think the lectures did fine enough
11. I think the review for every tests could have been better. Also there should have been more help sessions on Monday and Wednesday when the homework is due 110%. Also when a homework and portfolio's are graded by the TA's and if I get 100 that brings my homework grade down if I have finished all my homework for 110% so I think the portfolio check and the homework check should count less percent than our online homework.
12. None. Excellent class.
13. There were times when lecture was rushed at the end and some problems could not be fully explained.
14. na
15. Easier exam problems?
16. None
19. The hardest class I've ever taken, but I have learned more in this class than any other class I've ever had.
20. none
22. Keep doing what you're doing! :)
23. The test were a little bit too hard. Have more class session for lectures so it would not conflict with some classes.
25. Nothing that I can think of
26. Make reviews for tests more beneficial
27. visual lectures
28.
29. It is pretty much perfect
31. The experience that I have had with EF 151 is priceless and has little room for improvement.
32. The class was great!
34. Have the TA walk around more and make sure they are working
36. More time is needed in lecture
37. I thought it was great, the lectures, recitations, HW and tests all fit together very well.
38. none
39. Good class, very difficult material
40. N/A
43. Homework took alot of time
44. i liked the class
45. Overall the class went pretty well.
49. TAs should go over homework
51. Challenging for sure.
52. Overall I loved all parts of 151
53. Not much to say. It's quite a perfect class.
54. nope
58. Nothing really
59. None
61. I can't think of too much to improve this class i had a great time.
62. none
64. A bigger study room in Estabrook is needed. Many times the room is to full for anyone to sit. I am refering to the study room where the TA's help during the day.
65. none
66. I think there is not much to suggest to improve EF 151 but I greatly enjoyed when we did a few "impossible" hw questions in lecture and recitation. Sometimes the material was very hard.
68. More time to do work.
71. There is nothing i'd recommend changing. The class is well-constructed and you can tell that a lot of time has been put in to giving students a chance to succeed.
75. one less module
76. 1. Have more examples like the study exam sessions/HW involved in lecture time. They are more challenging and require more thought to work through. It is very frustrating when you work basic examples in class, then go to do your HW and say WTF is this.
77. It is very mind blowing if someone taking this course has never studied anything related to physics. There should be more explanation given to the basic concepts.
78. I bet everyone is saying less homework, but I understand the reason for it. Just because it was hard for me doesn't mean you need to change anything.
79. good
84. none.
86. It was a great introduction to engineering physics.
88. none... this is a great way to teach physics
89. Keep recitations right after lecture, I think it helps most students learn better.

99. Great Class
100. None
101. maybe a couple added harder examples in classes for more understanding while doing homework.
102. none
103. No suggestions
104. Hard but enjoyed
105. i love these teachers!!
107. Help sessions
110. The only thing i really can say about improving the class is to slow down at times so the material can register.
111. More homework help.
114. More tests to even out grade

General comments/suggestions on web site:
1. I really liked using the website, it is set up good and is easy to use.
4. add more hints to homework; the textbook sections do not help and should not be considered as a hint
6. I loved the way that there were little bits of humor tucked all over the place. I liked that there were links to Blackboard, myutk, etc. Seriously though, I don't need a hint telling me that there is an example in section something-or-other of my text book: I use the hint if my notes and book are not enough in the first place.

General comments/suggestions on the textbook:
1. I did not purchase a textbook
4. Not helpful.
6. The notes were much better.
8. It was a lifesaver!
9. Difficult to relate to this class. Different terminology and very different examples.
10. IT was written in a totally different language to me. Do not use it.

22. I did not buy a book, but I used a class members' a few times and it wasn't very helpful. The lecture was enough!
23. Students don't need to buy it.
24. I didnt buy one, but it probably would have been helpful for the homework.
25. N/A
27. needed for this class
28. Had no textbook, did just fine in the class. Would have liked to have one at times, but class mates and friends who had taken class are just as helpful as a textbook. Also, in a way it promotes working in a group. Instead of looking up the answer yourself, you get to help each other get the answer.
31. If the textbook is only set as a recomendation, please don't use homework hints to refer to the book examples. It gives those without the book a disadvantage when working on homework.
34. Didn't understand a lot of the differences in the equation.
36. none
37. When the HW referenced the textbook, it was not very informative
38. The book was ok, but on the homework hints I think you have some of the examples wrong, but maybe I was just using a different version of the textbook.

45. I didn't really use the text book that much. The lecture slides covered the material well.
49. used textbook once
51. The example problems weren't nearly as in depth as the online homework problems.
53. Bennet and Schleter teach well enough that we do not require textbooks.
54. wish we had one
55. barely used it.
57. I don't like digital books, but I admit that I would buy one if the price is low.
58. N/A
59. It was helpful at times but most of the time it just confused me more than I already was.
60. Because of the fact 85% of the homework hints referred students to the textbook, I felt misled on the usefulness of buying a textbook for the course. I would absolutely press for the textbook being required now that I have been through the material.
61. N/A
62. none
65. I definitely would rather have a real textbook instead of an online version, but that is just my preference. The book helped out some, but it wasn't a major part of my studying. Occasionally I would find an example problem that helped me with my homework or read a little bit about a concept, but other than that I didn't use it too much.
68. Too expensive.
71. i'd only buy one if it was dirt cheap
72. A few of my friends took the class last semester and bought the book. They urged me to save money and not buy it.
76. Very good at explaining topics. There were many times I learned more from going through the topics and examples in the book than I did in lecture.
77. It wasn't needed at all.

81. N/A
82. The examples in the book (older edition) in relation to homework problems was not very helpful.
84. I never opened the textbook, it was definitely unnecessary.
86. All the material for this class is easily understood from the lectures or a quick google search; the book is unnecessary to do well. Although it was kind of annoying that some of the hints referred to the textbook since myself and the other students I worked with did not purchase the book.
88. ...
89. I have noo $$$ :'(
91. Didn't once open the damn thing. Reselling
92. Sometimes I did wish I had a book to refer to questions on the homework. Also, a lot of the hints on the homework would say to refer to a question in the book, but most students did not buy the book.
93. n/a
94. Used textbook rarely last semester. It did not help much though.

110. Even though i didnt have one i think if i would have got one, it would have been somewhat helpful.
111. Ibought the textbook and the solutions manual. I found them to be little help when referenced to. The problem references in the Homework to the textbook were usually similar but not the same concept.
113. I prefer hard copies of text book, but I don't believe they are 3 times better than e-versions in terms of price

I put "no" for requiring text books because the current one we use now is useless. If we had a better one than I would say "Absolutely".

How does the system compare to other systems you may have used?
1. It is very challenging, but it prepares you well for the tests.
2. I like this system far more than I like any other homework system
3. Good
4. this system is good but sometimes if the answer is a tenth off, the system counts it wrong which can be frustrating
6. Much, much, much better than Mastering Chemistry and Web-assign.
7. Better organized.
8. It is much better.
9. About the same.
10. I thought the hw's were okay, but just too long. If I knew I was gonna have so much trouble, I would have taken less hours this semester. They kind of effected all me in all my other classes, since they're basically the only hw's I did. Yall should make all Hw's worth 100 points for a whole week instead of 2 days. BUt keep the 110 thing too.
11. Much better
13. The questions were harder for me and when I got stuck the discussions could not always be counted on to have the answers. I should have posted to the discussions and asked my questions myself. Though usually it was a stupid error o math mistake like forgetting to square something.
14. better
15. Works much better
16. I think it is decent.
17. other systems such as Webassign also provide walkthrough examples of the problem which help me better understand the problem
18. It Works great keep me on top of the material.
19. A lot better.
20. i liked it because we had pretty much unlimited tries, and most other classes only give you like 3 or 5 tries
22. It is so much better than any other system I have used because you have a lot of tries and will still get a good grade. This helps me to learn better because it allows me to figure the question out on my own, whereas in systems like mastering chemistry, if I can't get an answer, I have to look it up and don't have the opportunity to figure it out on my own.
23. It's better because there are better tolerance and hints.
24. I liked it much more than blackboard, and mastering chemistry.
25. Good
26. I knew what to expect so that was beneficial.
27. sort of similar with all online work I've done
28. More efficient, easier to use.
29. So much better. Other systems, i.e UTK, are not user friendly
30. Much better than any other online homework system I have used.
31. It seems to work well. It gives a margin of error when entering answers so that if I am close enough, it will give it to me. This is very helpful so that I don't have to find the exact answer.
32. It is user friendly.
33. It works well

43. Alot better
44. i like it better
45. The only other thing I've used that's similar is web assign and this is a lot better.
47. It is good in how it is organized, however harder then problems we do in class.
49. The day before extra credit is different
51. Its pretty dang hard compared to others.
52. I feel this system works better than others I have used.
53. It has been the easiest system to use
54. only one i have used
55. I like it better because I am able to know if I got the correct answer immediately and I know the grades.
57. This system works very well.
58. I like it more than other systems
59. It is a much better system than Aplia or WebAssign and was very easy to use.
60. This homework system seems more lenient on students than others I have used.
61. I like it a lot more than WebAssign
62. even
64. Better than Mastering Chemistry.
65. Once I got used to it, I liked this system much better than other systems I have used.
66. It helped emensly for tests for comprehension and just practice. It is better than any other online hw by far!
67. Pretty decent
68. It was good, but often very open-ended. Getting one problem wrong because of a tiny error usually left me demoralized and wasted a lot of my time.
70. very good compared to other systems
71. Its the best one ive ever worked with
72. I like that it doesn't give you the answer, but rather challenges you to move forward to figure the problem out. The hints really helped out every now and then.
73. I have not used any other systems.
75. better
77. As far as I can remember, it's the only one I have used.
79. good
80. NC
81. Much better than Mastering Chemistry. I really enjoyed the point degradation system instead of a "cut-off" date of 0% credit.
82. I liked this system much better then mastering chemistry. However, I like Web Assign much better because they help you with the homework like the video that was used for the coin collision problem.
84. Not complicated, very effective.
85. Much more useful than Mastering Chemistry and WebAssign
86. It is the best by far!
87. About the same as others
88. Great
89. A lot better than other systems
90. It is pretty effective. The only complaint I have is that at times it will glitch up.
91. Better
92. I like the system better than others I have used. I liked the immediate feedback.
93. this is the only online homework ive had to do but i thought it was effective.
94. Best system that I've used.
95. It is a lot easier.
96. Its easy to navigate compared to other systems.
97. Different, but useful.
98. It was better then the masteringchem system but a tad bit percise still at times.
99. Way better than web assign
100. Better than webassign
101. The online homework setup is amazing and works well.
102. I love how you actually get quite a bit of credit for late work, and the penalties for a wrong answer are low.
103. Equal to web-assign
104. very different but i liked it
105. easier to understand
106. very organizex
107. Better than mastering chem for sure.
108. It's very effective.
109. Very good
110. This was really the first on-line homework system that I have used. So for the first time it was pretty good.
111. I liked it but it seemed to move a little fast in the middle of the semester. specially with other classes to tend to.
112. Much better than WebAssign and the Mastering Chemistry systems. The homework related more to the actual class, instead of there being random questions that weren't talked about in class.
113. It beats any other system I've used by a whole lot, including 2 different websites created by professional web designers (that probably weren't cheap.)
114. It is better because of the pictures and hints.

General comments/suggestions for improving the system:

66. There needs to be better hints on some questions.
68. More room for error, not the three decimal place system. maybe like a two decimal place?
70. none
71. I dont see how you can improve it anymore
77. It would be nice to have a workout solution, or video, related to the problem being worked on.
78. The 2% try penalty was more of a curse than a blessing. In 105, on the numerical questions that are similar in format to the homeworks for 151, they have a try limit rather than a try penalty. I still discourages guessing but your grade isn't affected.

80. NC
81. More useful hints that do not include text book examples.
82. More hints.
84. none.
85. Less "Text book example" hints
86. It would help if when you punted a question it gave you the equations/method of solving. I only punted once, but I remember feeling disheartened about not understanding how to solve the question after trying so many times. I guess this is remedied by asking a fellow student, but it would just be convenient to see it in front of you.

96. Maybe don't make it so difficult. Homework was much more difficult and in depth than the material we cover in lecture in my opinion. I feel like a lot of students struggled to even finish the assignments before we started another topic, which in turn makes students fall behind and not understand the material like they should.

110. Well i know the homework has to be challenging, but if something on the homework has nothing to do with what is going to be on the test, i dont see why put it on homework.
112. Spread out the homework more because it can be very time consuming.
113. I think we should be able to punt questions so we are able to use the information supplied with the correct answers to answer further related questions, but also be able to replace punted problems with a similar question using different numbers. Sometimes I've been forced to decide between punting a question and receiving %110 credit on further questions or waiting until I get help and end up only scoring 100% on all the questions.
